Little About Me
Natasha Valdes, MM
"I'm a nerd who loves tea, board games, and puzzles + I was struggling with my health. So.... I decided to use my neuroscience, performance science, and voice science certifications to become a trauma voice specialist, and I created a complete wellness program to heal myself.
Over the years, my inability to manage my anxiety & trauma manifested into autoimmune disorders, vocal dysfunction, gastrointestinal problems, and TMJ. I went to many doctors, but nothing showed up on my tests. After it was all said and done, they all had the same answer, "it's stress related."
I needed to go on my own healing journey to find answers and restore my health. This led me to discover the power of the vagus nerve and integrative methodology for how to heal and regain my life.
Now I speak at National & Regional conferences on how trauma, anxiety, and depression affect the voice via the vagus nerve! It is my mission to share my learnings through my Embodied Vocal Wellness Program. I'm creating opportunities for others to gain control over their performance anxiety and heal deep-rooted trauma wounds; by teaching the things I wish I knew when I had to face my vocal dysphoria. If only someone had told me that my voice had the power to heal my dysregulated nervous system..."

Trauma-informed Education
I am a voice teacher, performance anxiety coach, and trauma wound healer who integrates voice science + neuroscience to create a holistic approach to singing & healing the body using the voice.
Weird word right? Pedagogy means the method or practice of teaching. Vocal Pedagogy is the study of the art and science of voice instruction. It explores what singing is, how singing works, and how proper technique is accomplished. In other words...I totally nerd out on voice stuff! I hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy...ART + SCIENCE! So why choose a teacher with a background in Vocal Pedagogy? I have in-depth knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the voice. As a voice teacher, this means I have a deeper understanding of diagnosing vocal faults through a systematic approach, and finding a solution for each individual student. I have various vocal rehabilitation exercises to strengthen the voice, the body, and the mind. In doing so, each student is able to see growth towards their individual goals.
NeuroVocal Somatic Practitioner
A NeuroVocal Somatic Practitioner is a professional who specializes in the intricate relationship between the nervous system, the voice, and somatic practices. With a background in neurology and voice science, their work revolves around understanding and optimizing the connections between these systems to enhance overall well-being and promote holistic healing.
What I do is help people overcome anxiety, rewire depression, and release trauma to free their minds, body, and voice through my Embodied Vocal Wellness program:
Which uses science-based vagal toning techniques, allowing you to perform at your optimal level. Embodied Vocal Wellness is a neuroscience program that explores your body's habitual reaction to stress and rewires your neuropathway to safety and restoration. I've helped multiple people change their lives through: Vagal toning, CBT techniques (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Techniques), mindfulness, breath work, vocal toning, and neuro-balanced nutrition for an immersive healing experience of the mind, body, and voice.
What is my ultimate goal?
My mission is to empower you to discover your natural voice and boost your confidence by unlocking the harmonious synergy between your mind, body, and voice, all in alignment with your unique biological blueprint. I regularly connect with individuals who have explored every avenue yet still find themselves seeking the key to vocal liberation. Through these conversations, I've found that their previous treatments or self-help strategies have only provided temporary relief, lacking a deeper understanding of the root causes. With each of us possessing a distinct neural imprint, it's clear that conventional approaches or generic solutions simply won't cut it when it comes to resolving their challenges. Let's embark on a journey together to tailor solutions that truly address your individual needs and bring about lasting transformation!

Current Research...
I recently submitted a paper to the Voice Study Center on The Link Between Psychogenic Dysphonia and the Vagus Nerve. The topic discusses how trigger responses can be linked to poor vocal production and holistic solutions to healing the voice. I am very passionate about continuing to research this subject because it comes from my personal experience with how trauma and anxiety showed up in my voice and the lack of resources available for healing.
The voice is a vulnerable and expressive instrument uniquely designed for every individual. Therefore, I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach in the voice studio. As a trauma-informed voice specialist, my teaching philosophy is strongly influenced by holistic applications that involve the mind, body, and voice for an integrative vocal experience. Voice studio methodologies are based on evidence-based pedagogical solutions influenced by my education on trauma, anxiety, and depression in the voice, plus my personal experience with psychogenic dysphonia. The method encourages students to explore their instruments through somatic voice work, bel canto technique, primal sounds, pranayamas, and vocal toning. The objective is for students to understand functional voice training to create organic singers. This holistic approach to singing allows students the freedom to explore the voice without judgment, discover their unique vocal qualities, and sing with expressive freedom. Self-observation enables students to recognize their own inhibitions, leading to efficient practice outside the studio. Combining these methods has proven effective through in-person and online teaching, creating sustainable techniques for healthy vocal production. As a trauma-informed voice specialist, I aim to bridge the gap between student-teacher relationships and create safe spaces for everyone to thrive.
My mom is a brain health coach with the Amen Clinic & a certified therapist. She specializes in reading brain scans and treating trauma through EMDR. I got my passion for understanding mental health and trauma through her, and I am fortunate to have her as a resource while I continue to grow my knowledge on trauma, anxiety, and depression in the voice.

"These lessons have REALLY been helping and I'm not the only one that can hear the difference. This is just the beginning. Thank YOU so much for helping me. I actually have tears flowing because it really means a lot to me and I know if I feel this way, others must feel the same! I appreciate you." -CJ
"Thank you! I SO benefited from our time together. My speaking engagement this week went swimmingly well. I was full-voiced, embodied, energized and “left ‘em wanting more.”-Rene
"I am forever changed. Nerver in my life did I think I would have control over my thoughts. I still feel nervous before a presentation, the magic part is I know where my stress is coming from. That was the game changer for me. No one has ever told me to pay attention to where I feel stress. I have gained confidence because I have the tools to regulate myself." -Linda
"What Natasha is teaching is life-changing. I had her come to my school to teach Performance Anxiety techniques to my students, and they said it was the best advice they have ever received." -Trina
"I was a little intimidated going to a lecture on neuroscience, but Natasha made it fun and the material easy to digest. The methods applied in her lecture were so calming, even the service dog next time was sighing." -Maria
"I have been singing for 20 years, and never in my life had I sang with such ease & release. If there is a vocal toning workshop, please TAKE IT! You don't need to be a singer to benefit from the release you feel. It is an experience you will never forget. Thank you for sharing it with me" -James
